WOMANIST
Life has been extremely busy lately. I started a new job February 24th, working for the government, so you know I try not to use their comps to blog and what not. LOL! I used to have to take my personal laptop to my old job, so I would blog at all. Not only did I start a new job, but my personal life has been really busy, so I just never made a commitment to sit down and blog.
Something I've been thinking about lately is the fact that I've been to about 6 weddings in the past 2.5 years since dating the BF. I've missed 2 due to work and we've skipped 1, so that's actually a total of 9 which could have been attended. I've become THAT CHIC who's at every dag on wedding. Granted, I adore getting dolled up, but after a while weddings become boring especially when it's NONE of my friends who are the ones getting married. I find myself sitting enjoying the good (or not so good) food and attempting to make small talk with others at the table. FYI: I'm absolutely horrible at small talk and talking to strangers, I'm not comfortable around people I don't know. So with another wedding to attend in May, a friend of my own actually, I've decided to skip the wedding. Well, one, since I just started my job, I don't want to take off of work so soon, it's not a good look, and secondly, I'm tired of weddings. It may be extremely selfish, but it's what I have to do to protect my sanity. I'd hate to turn into that bitter *female dog* like the women on Four Weddings who criticize and complain about every detail of someone else's wedding. So I'm putting myself on a wedding hiatus for maybe about 6 months or the next 2 weddings, whichever comes first, because the boos friends love getting married. Hopefully, I won't attend another wedding until my cousin's in the Bahamas, summer 2015. LOL! With that being said, it's really important as a woman to recognize the feelings you have. We experience a whirlwind of emotions and until we process them, it's easy for them to just spew out all over the place like a leaky water hose. Judge me if you like, it will make your life no better. Now moving forward...

I had Nando's for the first time with Jamie and our friend Ashley who moved to Dallas a while ago. This plate of 5 wings was $13, overpriced. The flavor of the wings were good, but the sangria was better. I'd definitely go back and get tipsy off of their sangria during happy hour.

The BF made bacon wrapped BBQ chicken sandwiches. YUM! |
 |
As a late birthday gift, my friend, took me to eat at Hot and Juicy in the district. |
 |
My mom says I cook like a "mother hen" and I def agree, I cook like someone's grandmother. Here's chicken quarters baked and seasoned, can't even remember what I seasoned it with besides ginger. Purple potatoes from Whole Foods thanks to a gift card and Groupon, seasoned with salt, pepper, fresh rosemary, and grated parmesan. Tomato stew, broccoli, and cornbread. |
 |
The potatoes uncooked. |

Tomato stew. I had to call my grandma about how to make this. I was craving tomato with cornbread since I had the cornbread with tomato relish in Harlem for my birthday. |
 |
So I must have added a little too much oil to my cast iron because that's what caused that ring indentation. I covered it in maple butter which I got from Whole Foods and let me just tell you, it's absolutely amazing. |
 |
My usual broccoli. |

I cooked the rest of the potatoes I had in a skillet for breakfast and seasoned it the same way minus the parmesan. |
